Report a Student Absence

Report a Student Absence

Skwo:wech asks that parent/guardians email or call the school in the case of a student absence.

Please include:

  • Student’s first and last name
  • Teacher’s name
  • Division number
  • Date(s) of absence
  • Reason for absence e.g. illness, vacation, appointment (medical, dental, other)

Emails should be sent to both and your child’s classroom teacher.

Calls may be made 24 hours a day through our voice message system at 604-517-6090

When contacting the school the day of an absence, please call or email prior to 8:30am.

Our school secretaries share the task of tracking absences, arrivals, and dismissals based on the day of the week and staffing, so including the above information with each notification is appreciated.

COVID related tracking by Fraser Health

As Fraser Health has transitioned away from contact tracing, they will now be using absentee rates to track what is happening in individual districts, schools and classrooms. Our staff are working hard every day to carefully track attendance and report any instances of unusually high absences.

Here’s what you can do to help us accurately report our attendance anomalies to Fraser Health:

  • Please make sure that if your child is going to be away for any reason that you report the absence, directly to us, as early as possible.
  • When you report the absence, please be clear about reason:
    • If your child is ill (any type of illness), state “illness” as the reason.
    • Please note: if your child has been instructed to self-isolate because they are a confirmed close contact to someone with COVID-19, but are not showing symptoms and have not tested positive themselves, this is NOT AN ILLNESS.
    • If you are keeping your child home for any reason other than an illness (e.g. an appointment, family vacation, out of an abundance of caution or some other “by choice” reason), please clearly specify why your child will be absent.

Thank you!
